Since August 2017 the same water pipe has split. The new pipe seems to last no more than five weeks. It seems to overheat when I am stuck in traffic not moving. After being in traffic the pipe splits with no warning, no lights or the temperature gauge moving.

Good morning.

Is this a steel pipe or a rubber line? Can you post a picture for us to view?

The most common cause is excessive pressure. Has the engine overheated at any time?

It is the rubber hose located at the back of battery. Cannot photograph it or video. The engine has never overheated, there is no warning, the temperature gauge does not move. It seems to pop when stuck in traffic not moving.

Okay thanks. Make sure you are using the correct style hose. Coolant hoses need steel reinforced hosing to handle the pressure.

Also, check the radiator cap to be sure it is releasing pressure at the correct spec. If it does not then it will build too much pressure and the hose will fail.
