Pinion shaft will not turn

Removed front differential to replace rotten oil pan. Now reinstalling front differential. But input or pinion shaft will not turn. Wire harness not plugged in, seal/driveshaft flange piece was removed. Concerned about a possible jam internally, etc. So holding off re-installation of differential until clarification.

It sounds like you have too long of bolt in the wrong place, can you loosen/remove any bolt that would jam the gears or axle.
