pinion gear rear seal

1950 Ford custom two door coupe. rear end pinion gear seal, where yoke goes into rear end. what is best way to install the seal? should I use a gasket sealant etc.? Thanks, Jim.

When installing oil seals, usually special tools are required. However for the DIY mechanics, you can either used a bearing cone or a flat bar and hammer for tapping the seal in. Do not tap too hard which can damage the seal and make sure the seal goes in evenly, without any side going in too fast.
