Pinging

Replaced plugs, wires, map sensor, cleaned mass air flow, verified timing to factory specs and had replaced EGR valve about 20 months ago (could that have gone bad again in that time?)....what else might be causing vehicle to ping? Oh, and compression is ok.
Only pings during hot weather. Thank you

Replacing the EGR valve doesn't insure the passage is not restricted preventing the system from working properly.

Carbon built up, high engine temps and low octane fuel are the other causes.
