2009 Other Peugeot Models Smell ofAntifreeze

Good evening
When the weather is cold and I start my Boxer diesel there is as mell of antifreeze which seems to be coming from the exhaust pipe after a few miles this stops .
Through the winter this happenend frequently

I have added about a quartet of apint of antifreeze over the period and done about2000 miles

I have looke at the oil fillef cap and there are no signs of any water in there

I would be grateful if you could help me while the vehicule is is still under guarentee as all my garage says is that is normal to top up the water circuit from time to time

Hi there,

Have they cooling system pressure tested to check for any external leaks, there should be no coolant entering the exhaust, if there are no external leaks, they will have to check for a head problem or a sleeve problem if this engine is a wet sleeve construction.
