Problem with the transmission

I wander if you gays can help me !

I have the Peugeot 307 automatic 80KW, the symptoms that this automatic transmission have is that every 6000-8000km needs an oil change ! If you not do that the automatic gear computer gives an error and in the display you see ** Automatic transmission gear fault**. Then you have only the 3gear to drive until you make a reset ! When I make an oil change, the oil cams out a little brown but it seems to me that it is not new but still useful ! I notice that after 8000km the automatic transmission sleeps at the morning and then came the error code ! But if I change the oil everything is ok ! If the oil was chip it is for me no problem but 2 liters cost 25 euro. I ve been to the Peugeot and the tell me to change some valves but for me it not seems that this is a problem of the valves, if it where so the transmission would make other serious problems ! Peugeot in france say it is sealed for life J ! I am waiting for you technical answer ! PS the transmission oil is ESSO 4HP20

User notes: The fault was that the 2 pressure valves were loose and don t sealing well !

you need to have the transmission rebuilt or replaced .. the clutches are burnt and the valves are leaking down as the fluid is getting burnt also

Dear Sir,

I get automatic gear fault alarm when I press acceleration quitly. Engine rpm goes high gear not shifting to higher position.
What I have done to get back to normal gear position is I switch key to off position while car still run then again I put key to on position. Imidiatedely rpm goes littly high and back to normal. Now car running normal with gear position on normal. It can determait from engine noise.
The problem will coming back if we speed up after speed slow down.
It the problem relative to selinoid control system or gear itself? I have tried ti replaced gear oil but problem remain existing.

Best regard
Agus M

The car have admitted to company garage but no detail about computer checking. They asking to pull down gear. Additional info after took to another garage to replace gear oil and oil quantity was only less then 1/2 liter color was very black and dark.
Than I replace oil gear with new 4 liter but the problem appeared same automatic gear fault. I hopefully the problem on solenoid/sensor but no any mechanic advice me about that one. They replaced the input shaft speeds ensor it fixed it!

I would have the shift rails checked as they may be worn out.
Does it make any unusual noises?

Sounds like a selector cable problem or in the selector quadrant inside the cabin.

1.I will put other oil than HP20 ZF in the automatic gear box? ( Maybe dextron3 )
2. How can other oil damage the automatic gear box?

Transmission seals sometimes react badly if you add a different fluid than the recommended. Causing them to swell and leak which in turn causes pressure loss !
