2003 Peugeot 307 knocking noise from engine on start up

When starting from cold there is a knocking noise
coming from the engine area/or transmission.
It seems a bit rough going into first gear but after
that it is alright. It is a dual pressure type flywheel
and I wondered if this could be causing the problem.

this could well be the cause .. it needs to be inspected !!
