2001 Peugeot 307 Brakes sticking

Brakes problem
2001 Peugeot 307 Front Wheel Drive Manual 60000 miles

This morning was driving car seemed sluggish and small tapping noise from rear of car. When got out of car noted smell of burning metal realised rear brake smoking off-side, also noted when got back in car looseness of handbrake. Is rear brake sticking because of cold weather and is there anything I can do to resolve situation.

you need to check the rear brake shoes for any damage or lining coming off the shoe !!
