Hi all
Could anyone give me advice on the following:
On my wife's 206 there is a knocking/clicking sound when you take your foot off the accelerator while driving - in each gear. It sound like when you used to put a piece of cardboard against your bicycle wheel as a kid. It seems like some thing has worked loose and is rubbing - clutch/gear box problem or something more simple?
Any advice would be gratefully accepted!

many thanks

Thanks, just had it confirmed that it is the gear box bearing. My local garage suggests a replacement second hand gear box, but I would like some advice if this is the way to go rather than a bearing replacement.

Thanks again

I personally would have the bearing replaced .. Although sometimes this can be more expensive .. you do not know what you are buying with a used gearbox ! could be worse than the one you have !! .. a rebuilt one will last much longer !

When I turn left a knocking noise occurs, this only happens when turning quickly, it doesn't happen over bumps or at slower speeds and it only happens when I turn left, looked at suspension on both sides and all seems to look and feel the same in both sides, the drive is not affected at all just very annoying noise, any ideas?

Most times if a knocking noise only occurs when turning it is due to a failing cv axle. You will have to inspect the cv axles to see if grease had leaked out of either of the four boots and usually the one with the leak is the noisey one. If this is not taken care of soon it can break and render the car inoperable as the transmission will not engage. Hope this information helps
