2004 Peugeot 206 Belt squeal and burning rubber smell

2004 Peugeot 206 Two Wheel Drive Manual 87000 miles

When pressing and releasing the clutch at low speed I can hear an audible squeal and can occassionally smell burning rubber. At first it was only when pressing and releasing the clutch but now it is also whilst driving at low speed without using the clutch?

Hi there,

i would be having the clutch release bearing checked as this is what will be making the noise when the clutch pedal is pressed in, unfortuatly the gear box must be removed to do this.
