If you smell fuel, there is a leak. If the smell seems to be coming through the vents, chances are it is under the hood. After driving the car, turn the engine off and wait a couple seconds and check under the vehicle for evidence of a fuel leak. If you find nothing, open the hood to see if there is a strong smell there. It could be several things. Inspect the fuel lines under the hood as well as under the car. Additionally, check fuel injectors for indications of a leak.
Please note, any fuel leak is dangerous and should be identified and repaired ASAP.
If you can not see any leaks, I recommend checking fuel pump pressure drop off. Basically, when the key is turned to the off position, the system should maintain pressure for a period of time. If it does not, either you have a faulty fuel pump, leaking injector, bad fuel pressure regulator, or a leak. Here are directions for checking fuel pump pressure, regulator, and the drop off.
