Brake pedal hits floor

I just recently changed the front rotors and brake pads on my car. After I finished putting everything back I went to pump the brakes and it got stiff but once I turned on the car the pedal would hit the floor whenever I pushed it and breaks would not work properly. What should I do?

Good morning.

When pumping the brake pedal, you may have damaged the seals internally in the master cylinder. They traveled into an area they do not normally travel to and the seals may be damaged not holding pressure.

If you opened the calipers to push back the pistons, you could have got air into the system which will require bleeding the system.
