I have oil going through the breather tube tube on the front of the engine going to the air intake. I read online that the PCV valve is usually the issue and needs to be changed. I was searching for it and can not find it anywhere. I went to the parts department at the GM dealership and they did not know either. I need to find the location so I can change it. Is there anywhere to get a diagram showing where it is (nothing found for the 3.6L online), or might you know. Thanks Dave.

Hi David,

Yes. Oil in the intake is most likely caused by the PCV valve.

Here is the replacement procedure with drawing.

FYI - this site is posted to the public so I would recommend not posting your email address. When we reply, it should send you a link to your email to notify you of the update. I will send a request to see if we can have it removed.

Let me know if you need more information on your PCV issue. Thanks

Hello and welcome to 2CarPros. The PCV on that engine is installed in a two part system. One piece is in the right hand valve cover as a part of the cover. It is a press fit item when new. See the images below for the location of that valve. The other piece is in the opposite valve cover as the fitting at the end of the fresh air hose. It is shown in the last two images.
The part numbers from GM are - #12583384 for the metal part, and #12578316 for the plastic part. To be effective you need to change both.

I don't know if you still read this but I trusted somebody that was supposed to be a mechanic and I'm good at learning things by sight but if I don't know him I have no clue and the roses missing and then houses pulled and ripped and not where they were supposed to be and I got most of them but you broke it down to where I could see where the hoses I needed and the houses I had belong together and I really appreciate it you made it simple and I've been searching for at least 3 weeks and I finally found this site and I appreciate it I'm still trying to figure it out because I have to go more in detail with it because I'm still lost in an engine but with yours it's a lot easier and now I know what I'm looking for so thank you I hope you do still read this because I might have questions.

Melissa, would it be possible for you to start this as a new question, so we get all the vehicle information, please. That would make it easier to give you the correct information.
