I think you meant the p.a.t.s (passive anti theaft system) it has to do with the security system / the imobiliser not recognizing the key it seems that it has locked you out it might need to be reset also its a comon accurance when you have a weak or dead batery or if there an issue with the transponder in the key on Ford vehicles good luck.

The PATS system will not make the engine fail to crank over FYI.
