PCM pinout?

just for some context behind why I need this, I get the code p031 I believe is what it is or something similar to that, it says it's problem with circuitry with cylinder one, I've replaced the coil on cylinder one, I even bought a new pcm because I was told that that happens with the Lincoln occasionally that it gets shorted out and that cylinder one driver fries in the pcm. but I still get the same code now, so what I'm left with is it has to be in the wire or the plug end. I just want to be able to check continuity on that cylinder one wire from plug to plug.

Hello, I didnt look up that code number yet, looks like youre missing a digit too, but it sounds like there is some issue with the command signal for the #1 ignition coil. Already looking at the oem diagram, these are 2 wire coils, so if you suspect a burnt driver inside the PCM/ECM, one check I do real quick to see if the actual transistor(power mosfet) is shorted to ground, (which transistors can short to ground or melt open circuit completely), so just check for continuity on the control wire to ground. With the engine off, key out, etc, you should not have a path to ground on the control wire from the coil connector. Do this test right at the PCM Connector too. I know you want to test end to end, which is good, but check for the control shorted through the PCM too. It will give more direction. Im pulling up the PCM pinout diagrams for you right now.

This is the PCM connector that has the #1 coil, but it looks like there might be some type of error in service info, if you look on the 1st and 2nd diagrams, you can see they grayed out some pins that are being used. But the 6th oem diagram backs up the PCM pinout. Pin 17 White/Violet wire in connector C175E is your #1 ignition coil control wire. I will post the other 2 PCM connector pinout next so it doesnt look too confusing.

These are the other 2 PCM connectors, C175B and C175T. To help ID the connectors I will go by the wire colors and locations in the connector to make sure Im on the correct one.

Giving an update, the pin I was looking for was E17, I was able to run my own wire from coil to pin and for the first time sincce I bought this car, its running on all 6 cylinders and giving me no codes. Thanks for the help provided I appreciate it very much.

Glad to help, since you ran a wire overlay, you may want to see if you can follow that wire and see where the fault actually is. Im writing this just because where ever that wire has an issue, there could be others, ie a bulk connector, that has corrosion in it that has just not effected other circuits yet. I asssume you cut the wire on both ends, but there is the -C139- bulk connector where all the coil control wires run through. Ill find its location so you can check it's pins.

Along with the bulk connector C139, Something else I noticed, which is only on the #1 coil control wire is this Splice S129. You can see it in the oem and aftermarket wiring diagrams. Being that the splice is on the #1 coil control wire, they are possibly using that signal during engine start up, service info states the PCM fires two coils when cranking until it determines the #1 cylinder for timing. So just watch for the Check Engine light, even if it comes on for a second then goes off, see if theres a code stored. Because the S129 is no longer in the loop here. Since you gave me the vin I put the open recalls in there last, which it doesnt look like there are any since the last service.
