I want to bypass the security system. Lost keys to car replaced lock cylinder with a non-transponder key tumbler. Since no one has found a way to bypass or hot wire this car. I want to know if I have the key and transponder box out of my 2005 Explorer can I plug the transponder and tape the key to it and place it near the column? Can I program it to the car and use new ignition tumbler? I just need to start the motor to show it runs so I can sell it.

Hello,

No, you can't. There is no way to bypass Ford's Passive Anti Theft System[PATS]. There are literally billions with a b of combinations and the PATS module is programmed to the Power-train Control Module [PCM or "computer" so swapping PATS modules between vehicle's will not work. You will have to get a ignition lock cylinder with PATS programmable keys and have the keys programmed to the vehicle by either a locksmith or the dealership. There are no other options here.

Thanks,
Alex

Your idea will not work as they use two different transponder signal systems as well as different modules and key-codes. If you have the original cylinder most locksmiths can cut replacement transponder keys and program them into the security system as well.
