A brake light bulb went out and I bought the one according to my Manuel. When I tried installing it, I realized it didn’t have the correct base and wouldn’t fit. So, I looked on the internet and found what they say was an alternate bulb. When I plugged that into the socket, I heard a snap and the whole taillight assembly went dark. With the exception of the brake light, the rest of the bulbs still work as I tried them on the other side but nothing works on this side. Did I blow the whole assembly or something worse?

Hi,

Chances are the fuse failed for the right parking lamps. The brake light gets power from a different source.

If you look below, I highlighted the relevant info on the wiring schematic. Let's start by testing fuse 26 in the under-hood fuse box.

If you look at pic 2, I highlighted the fuse in the fuse box. In addition to checking the fuse, confirm there is power to and from it.

Here is a link you may find helpful:

Let me know what you find.

Take care,
