Passenger power window will not go down, but it goes up. No issue if control from driver's side.

Hi there,

I am having issue with power windows on passenger sides, front and right back, left back power window works just fine.

Issue:
■ The window will not go down, only goes up.
■ The issue only happens if I use the control button from the passenger side (obviously the ones which having issue).
■ No issue if I use the control buttons from driver side.

I Called Kia service center they estimate the price could be between AUD $300 - $800. Insane !

To be honest, I have not yet checked the switch /fuse box as I assume it has power anyway.
And I am sure it is not the motor, because the windows works fine (up and down).
And yes windows lock out button is on "off" position.

Thank you for your help.

The fact the motor runs one way proves the wiring between the two switches is okay. That leaves the two switches as the suspects. The important point that might not make sense at first is either switch can cause the symptoms you described. Each switch actually has four sets of contacts. Two are used when that switch is released, and two in the other switch are used when that one is pressed.

What I would do is to remove the two rear switches and swap them side-to-side. If the left rear window has the problem now, that switch is defective. If the right rear one still has the problem, the driver's switch is bad. You should be able to find replacements at a salvage yard at a reasonable cost.

Exactly as you said!
I switched around the switches, and you are right. The switch is the problem.

Yes, I switched between the rear switches.
As the problem is similar on the front passenger side, it is also more than likely that it has bad switch as well.
