Busted the ignition and broke the pass lock sensor and the whole tumbler cylinder and have to try and start by using the ignition switch and a hot wire to the starter. How do I get it started? Since the pass lock sensors are gone, I know about the 22ohm resistor but there is no key and no housing for the pass lock sensor.

Hi,

It won't start under these conditions. The anti-theft is integral to the body control module. The only way this works is if the correct key is recognized bypass lock sensor. When you turn the key, it produces an analog voltage in the pass lock sensor which is sent to the BCM at which point, the BCM compares the voltage code to previously learned voltages. If they match, it allows the VCM to turn on the fuel injectors. If it doesn't match, no fuel is sent to the engine.

As far as this condition is concerned, the only thing that can be done is to replace the broken components and have the BCM reprogrammed to recognize the new key/ignition.

When you say the pass lock sensor housing is gone, do you mean the steering column is damaged?

Let me know.

Joe
