Replacing the back passenger side rotor, brake pads and caliper and emergency brake actuator. Parking brake lever boot is torn and partially missing. How do I remove it from the brake backing plate so I can install a new one?

That is part of the backing plate, you will need to remove the parking brake cable from the wheel to remove the boot, here is how the job is done. Check out the images (below). Let us know if you need anything else.

Ken, thank you for your quick response. I was hoping to be able to not have to remove the axle shaft just to replace the boot as the backing plate was in good condition. Learn something new every day. I appreciate your expertise.
