I have the P2187 code currently. The code can be erased and will only come on when I get off the highway. I recently had an issue (happened only once) where I turned on my car and it stopped like I ran out of gas. Tried turning it on and it just cranked. Turned it "on" to run the fuel pump and it started up just fine. Could the cause of my code be the fuel filters?

Hello, I'm Danny.

That code is for " System Too Lean at Idle Bank #1" Usually this means there is a possible intake manifold or vacuum leak which is allowing excess air into the engine at idle. What you can do to check is get engine starting fluid and spray around the intake manifold area with engine running and wherever there is a leak you will notice an increase in engine rpm's. I've attached a description of the P2187 code.Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.

Thank you. How could I tell if it's a vacuum leak?

Hello again.

You will have to visually inspect. Check for cracked/brittle/deteriorated vacuum lines. Make sure all lines are properly connected as well.Usually the lines will deteriorate with age under hood heat. Hope this helps and thanks again for using 2CarPros.
