Changed the spark plugs, plug wires and fuel filter. The engine light came on and stayed on. The error code is P1700. What exactly does that mean and should I drive this whoopdee until I can find someone to fix it?

Welcome to 2CarPros.

The code is related to a number 2 speed sensor. Now, since you were doing all the work on top of the engine, I doubt that you hurt the sensor; however, the throttle position sensor is on top and the engine control module needs signals from both to determine shifting and so on. With that in mind, check to make sure you didn't damage or disconnect it. I attached a picture of its location (the best one I could find) and circled it for you.

Let me know if this helps.

Joe
