Hello Joe, I plan on changing this 02 sensor myself if necessary. I know I can get to this one. I sure will let you know what happens. I am very curious myself. I hope its just a 02-sensor problem because I have been quoted for an intake manifold gasket replacement/ repair in the ballpark of $850.00 - $953.00 (for the lower ones and the upper ones). I looked at the 02-sensor bank 1 sensor 1 and it looks as if it has never been changed ever etc. Anyway, I will keep you posted.

Well I finally got my scanner. It came in finally but now, but I haven't had to use the new scanner yet because I injured myself some kind of way getting to the 02 sensor. I fractured my right knee. Not to worry guys though my knee has already been operated on and I am okay. Just know we did get the old 02 sensor out and the new one is in there. Right after me and my mother finished putting the new 02 sensor in there I went to the hospital etc. So, while I was gone someone went in and erased the code p0133 that it was reading before. Or I may have erased it in my hast to get to the hospital. So, the new sensor is in there and the check engine light is off now. So, should I still read the short-term fuel trims or not? And I have a question about this scanner. It says not to have your motor running while scanning but if it's supposed to read live data how is it going to read live data if you don't have the motor running? Pictures below on the old 02 sensor on it and the new scanner. That 02 sensor has Ford written on it. Now that's old.

Hi,

Wow! How did you hurt your knee? Also, as far as the scanner is concerned, if it isn't running, live data isn't available. I suspect it indicated to leave the engine off when checking for codes only. Most are designed that way.

If the check engine light stays off, there is no need for further testing. If it does, however, let me know the fuel trims and if the same code has returned.

Take care of your knee! And, let me know if I can help in any way.

Here is how I hurt my knee: Anyway, my mother and I were working on my van. We were replacing what is called a 02 sensor. I was sitting in the driver’s seat of my van, and I noticed she was having problems loosening a bolt, so I decided to get on the floor of my van and help her out. So, I lowered my driver’s seat down as low as it could go. So, I had two choices I could get out of my driver’s seat either to my right or to my left. I went to my left going between two seats and the wheelchair lift post was there too. Now I got out of my driver’s seat, and I have no Idea what happened to my right leg. But the left leg landed on the carpet of the van with no problem. What happened to my right leg I have no idea what happened to it? It might have hit something, when you can't feel in your legs it can cause all kinds of problems if you're not careful etc.

Scanner: The manual what came with that scanner is only 15 pages. And none of the error codes follow the format P0133 etc. These have words as error messages for this scanner. But I will have to get used to it etc. Well, okay, I will let you know Joe (Guys).

Removing the 02 sensor: Oh yeah I had to end up using one of those 02 sensor sockets to get the old 02 sensor out. I am sure you guys know all about them. Here is a picture of what the old 02 sensor looked like while still in the van. We sprayed it with wd40 and let it sit for a while. And with a 02-sensor socket eventually it came out etc. We had to cut the wire to it to get the 02 socket to work on it of course. But I am sure you guys know all about that too.

Hi,

I hope your leg is starting to feel better. Ugh! I wouldn't want that to happen to me.

As far as the scanner is concerned, let me know if the light returns. Also, the O2 socket I have absolutely used a thousand times. They work!

Take care and let me know what I can do to help.
