Good afternoon Tech,
I hope all is well with you and your family. So I have a 2004 Matrix XR which I purchase about 2 years ago. The mileage then was around 125,000 miles. The previous owner kept the engine bay very dirty so I pressure washed the entire engine thoroughly. I started the matrix and drove it around for five minutes or under a mile and did not notice any check engine lights. The next day I drove to work which is 80 miles one way and as I pulled in to the driveway @ work the check engine light came on. I connected the car to a code scanner and it revealed "P0741 Torque converter clutch solenoid circuit performance or stuck off". I did some research and a few people said to replace the transmission oil ... so I did so three times and that did not fix the issue. I then went back and did more research and came across this video where a owner of a 07 Corolla had a similar situation. I will past the url to his YouTube video in which hd gives a decent idea on he resolved his p0741 error. Seeing as how both situations are similar I would like to try his remedy but am unable to separate the transmission wire under the battery and I would like your guidance on how to separate the connections. The author of the video was unable to separate the wires and he had to use a longer method to clean the wires. If you could please take a look at the video where he identifies the wire / connector or take a look at the attached picture. Please let me know if there is a fee for your service?
Best regards
Tony
