Are these two codes pretty much tied up together?

And do you know what passive vs active sensor means? I am getting a tool to help me with these types of issues, just needed to know, and do you know one this car would have?

Hi,

It appears they are tied together. See pics 1 and 2 for descriptions.

My first thought is the sensor itself could be the issue. However, a stretched timing chain can also cause this type of issue.

By any chance, do you hear any rattling from the engine when running? I remember there being a technical service bulletin (TSB) indicating the Vanos (variable valve timing) bolt can come loose or even break.

Also, have you noticed a loss of power, rough idle, difficulty with starting or anything other?

Let me know.

Joe
