Engine is misfiring. Engine hunts sometimes while coasting. Have replaced the spark plugs, ignition coils, and the catalytic converter under the engine. Exhaust smelled of unburnt gas until cat was changed, but that smell has now gone away.

Check for vacuum leaks and do a compression test. replace ignition leads if not already done and inspect distributor cap for cracking internally, you may see black carbon tracks between posts. check fuel pressure and fuel filter for hunting, start here.
