Code P0170?

Hi,

The code is specific to bank one. If the MAF can cause a lean mixture and is not uncommon on these vehicles. You may want to service the MAF to see if that helps.

Here is my problem. The code P0170 isn't relevant for this vehicle. I checked in two different manuals. See pics below. The code list is in numerical order and both professional manuals don't list it. Are you sure the code is correct, and the vehicle information is accurate?

Let me know. Also, let me know if there are any exhaust leaks, how the vehicle is running, and anything you can think of that may be helpful.

I attached a pic below identifying banks 1 and 2. Bank 1 is on the passenger side.

My apologies Joe, I must’ve “fat-fingered” the keyboard. The code is PO171 lean in bank 1. I’ve had the truck for 6 months. Bought it from a Nissan dealership. I’ve had zero issues with it. I travel for work, so I’ve put about 8000 miles on it so far. I’ve done regular oil changes only up until now. I drove it yesterday a few miles from home and when I started back the engine light came on. It’s running just like it always has. No issues. That’s why I wondered if the MAF sensor could be dirty and need to be cleaned. Thanks for the reply and information. Much appreciated.

Thanks for the update. That code makes sense. LOL I attached diagnostics below related specifically to that code. Note that there are several things that can cause it. If there is an exhaust leak upstream from the catalytic converter, an injector failing, an engine vacuum leak after the MAF, and the list goes on.

Take a look through the diagnostics and let me know if you are comfortable performing the, since the vehicle is running the same as always, I suspect it may be either an engine vacuum leak or exhaust leak causing the code.
