Dies after engine warms up ( three to five miles of driving) it does start again after around fifteen minutes of cooling off, but it will die again within three to five miles, p0035 was the code given by dealership. Symptoms are horrible gas mileage (13 mpg) check engine light does not always come on. There were a few incidences where it would start, die immediately and would not start again until next day and or after having it towed (this only occurs if it starts and immediately dies). The timing belt and the sensor near it have recently been replaced, my research brought me to the mass air flow sensor, or could it be a module on top of the engine as I was told? Said code was for turbo and mine is not.

Are you sure the code isn't p0335?Sounds like a bad crankshaft position sensor causing the firing then cooling down and restarting really common on those.

Positive. Paperwork says p0035. The crank shaft sensor was replaced with the timing belt less than 15,000 miles ago.

I cannot find that code listed for that car, do they have free code reads in your state? Also the squeaking in the steering wheel is probably the boot that goes at the base of your steering column inside.

Problem is getting it to the parts store Weird you cannot find the code, a dealership took the reading. I used to be able to drive fifteen plus miles before it would die. Now it is a matter of blocks, it has progressively gotten worse I just cannot afford the $250.00 they want to diagnosis further. I have spent hours searching and find the symptoms fit those caused by a bad mass air flow sensor I just want to be positive before I spend the $100.00 plus the $75.00 for the core, to find out it was a bad gas cap. I thank you deeply for your time as do my granddaughters as it is their birthday budgets I have to dip into.

I just saw options for the 6 cylinder, I am confused now, one option was V6, 3.1? The other was 6/3.0? But I am sure it is 3.0 says it on the engine cover.

If it is a v6 it is the 3.0L that is the only one they had for those.

With heating up and cooling down and working it is most likely a bad crankshaft position sensor. Your welcome I am here to help.

Is this why I am getting such bad gas mileage? I have kept track and 13/14 mpg is what I am getting, of everything I have read 23 to 28 mpg should be the numbers.

Not from a bad crankshaft position sensor that will just shut the engine off when it fails. Getting it running again and see what happens with codes etc.
