What would fix the code listed above?

Good afternoon,

The first thing that comes to mind is the timing belt. This code is for the cam and crank signals out of sync. That comes from a worn timing belt and the marks are off.

I would check the marks to be sure they are aligned properly. I attached a picture of the mark for you to check and make sure they are aligned properly.

P0016-CRANKSHAFT/CAMSHAFT TIMING MISALIGNMENT

WHEN MONITORED
Engine cranking and Engine running

SET CONDITION
Powertrain Control Module detects an error when the camshaft position is out of phase with the crankshaft position.

POSSIBLE CAUSES
Intermittent condition
Checking intermittent CMP signal with lab
CMP wire harness inspection
Tone wheel/pulse ring inspection
CKP wire harness inspection
Tone wheel/pulse ring inspection
Intermittent CKP Signal

Already replaced the cam sensor. I have got it to fire but won’t stay running and if timing was issue I think it wouldn’t run at all.

Yes, it would. It could run but very poorly depending on how much the timing is off.
