Had the control module changed but now when I get to 60 mph the thermostat light comes on says it overheated and slows down. Once it cools off it runs good until forty mph any faster it says it hot and slows down. What can I do without the dealer to fix these problems?

Which control module and why was it changed changed originally? If you mean the PCM was the replacement programmed to match your vehicles VIN number and options?
Which engine and transmission do you have?
