Overheating no leaks or white smoke

My daughter's car shows it is overheating when she stops. There are no leaks, damage, or white smoke. I was told to unplug something on the negative part of battery then plug back in to reset sensor. Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks

no, check fuses and relay for fans and make sure they work kind of sounds like they are not. then check ECT sensor for resistance. see chart in picture for values.
