If you are disconnecting and jumping the connector at the sensor, it sounds like a connection issue. Take a look at the attached pic and let me know which sensor was replaced. There are two different types of the 1.9L so I attached a pic of both. If you replaced the wrong sensor, it will only affect the gauge in the vehicle. The other tells the computer when to turn on the fan. Also. I attached a pic of the wiring for the blower motor. It is really a simple system. Once the PCM receives a signal that requires the fan to turn on, it powers the relay and then power is sent to the fan motor. So, either the wrong sensor was replaced, there is a broken wire between the PCM and the relay, or a wiring issue to the PCM.
