Overheating

Hi.I have a mini.2 weeks ago it went to maximum temperature. Pulled off the hight way and stopped.I put maybe 2 pints of water into the rad filler. Left it an hour and tried again. It went 100 kms without overheating. It costs around $200 in towing fees to get it to the mini dealership. So I talked to a local guy who suggested the thermostat was sticking.I ordered the thermostat and housing and he installed it. Now when I turn my car on, within one minute it is at max temperature and water is pouring our our of the the filler bottle for the rad. Any ideas. The oil does not have any water in

You may have a defective thermostat, I would re check this and also do a head check this is a simple and quick chemical test for Co in the cooling system, if so you will have a head gasket problem.
