Two months ago my car was overheating. I was told my radiator was cracked. I had it replaced along with a new cap. About a week later I would drive my car and when turned off I would hear a bubbling noise and coolant would pour out of the overflow tank. It was not consistent when doing that. I was told my thermostat was sticking. I replaced it. It is still doing the gurgling and coolant comes out the overflow. It has not been overheating though. Today, it did overheat. When I popped my hood to put coolant in, I noticed my overflow tank is full to the top but there was no coolant in the radiator. I had a mechanic do a pressure check and said it was fine. Yesterday my son in law bled my radiator and let out some coolant because a mechanic that looked at it said that was the problem. I feel lost.

Start with a chemical test at the radiator for a leaking cylinder head gasket. Combustion gases will push coolant into the reservoir, and if those gases pool under the thermostat, that will prevent it from opening, then the engine will overheat. Thermostats must be hit with hot liquid to open. Hot air will not do it.
