Hi,

I have a question that may sound odd. Is the heater producing heat? If it isn't, there is likely air in the system preventing the coolant from properly flowing.

Also, will the engine overheat if you are driving at highway speeds or is it limited to in town stop and go driving?

Let me know.

Joe

It isn't blowing heat just air. But it's starting to smell like fumes and it's smoking behind the motor but down like on the manifolds or someone then. It gets hot then I have to shut it done I appreciate you talking to me been a nightmare.

Hi,

You are very welcome. Hang in there. We can get this figured out. You said there was smoke behind the engine. Does it have a sweet smell to it, or does it smell like it could be oil burning?

I attached a pic below showing the heater hoses. They are at the rear of the engine. They travel from the engine to the firewall. See the pic. Check to see if there is any evidence of a leak from one of the hoses.

Also, if you have no heat, there is a good chance the coolant is low or there is air in the system. At the top of the thermostat housing is a bleeder valve. With the engine cold and not running, loosen it to see if coolant starts to leak from it. If it doesn't, it is likely low or has air in the system.

With that bleeder open, add coolant until it starts to come out of the bleeder. (See pic 2 below)

Let me know what you find.

Take care,

Joe

Hi,

Wow, I'm glad to know you found that issue because it certainly could cause a fire. Where is the leak located? Is the leak at a hose, connector, fuel rail?

If possible, take a picture of the location and upload it for me to see. Also, because of this issue, I need confirmation on the engine size. It is either a 3.4L or a 3.8L. You indicated a 3.6L above. For this type of issue, the design is different from engine to engine.

Let me know.

Okay, well, I went to put water and antifreeze in it for it to come out the water pump so that's also an issue is why it might overheat. I take pic tomorrow if the gas leak. I want to thank you a bunch for helping me. I've hired so many mechanics and they have all messed me over stealing parts off my vehicle it's sad but I appreciate you.
