Overheating

Drove it for about three miles and had the heat on and it was overheating and leaking something in the passenger side floorboard under the dash. Could it be the same problem causing both of this to happen?

You probably have a leaking heater core which will drop the engine coolant down to a dangerous level. Get the cooling system pressure tested to prove a faulty heater core and do that repair.
