I watched the coolant temp on the scanner as you see in the videos since these cars have no temp gauges. It rises to 255 then fan kicks on high and brings it down to 240, sometimes 230. I did a 15 min drive, then a drive through and back home. It stayed the same way. Even in the drive through it goes up then fan kicks on high and brings it back down. If am not mistaken range should be between 221-231 max. No codes other than an EVAP, no check engine light, just the dash message: engine hot, drive moderately till it's cooler. Has 87k and I don't know if it could be a weak water pump, hard to say without codes. I am going to try and see if my other scanner can see the speed of the water pump if it's electrical. Unless the thermostat is stuck closed but it would have not come down I believe when the fan is on

Yep, the first thing I would do is change out the thermostat and I would use a garden hose to blow the dirt out of the radiator cooling fins. I would also change out the engine coolant pump this should fix the problem. The fact that it repeatedly climbs to 255°F and then drops to 230–240°F when the fan goes high tells us the radiator/fan can remove heat, but something isn't controlling coolant temperature properly before it gets that high. The water pump gets weak and cant move the coolant like is should. Let me know what happens.
