Experiencing overheating issues?

Hello. I've been experiencing overheating issues for a number of months. Flushed out radiator and changed the hoses and radiator cap. There is no leak, but it still overheats. I get a metal clanking sound only when it overheats however, I'm now getting a similar sound when I start the vehicle. It's there when the vehicle is idling and also when it's driving. Any ideas what the problem can be?

It sounds like the cooling system thermostat is stuck closed which happens, here are two guides to help us fix the problem with image below to help you repair your car:

Thank you for your response. I will look into what you've suggested and revert with the outcome. Regarding the cooling fans, I can't remember hearing them while in motion however, when I park and turn off the engine, they run for about a minute after the car has been off. I figure it's because of how hot the engine might be.

Yep, they will run after the engine is shut off, but they should run while the engine is running as well. But I have seen the fans not run if the thermostat is stuck as well.

Hello there. So, I had the thermostat checked and it is fully functional.

I've been reading other posts on this site, and it sounds like the head gasket might be failing or completely blown. I've been advised not to drive the vehicle as it is unsafe to do so.

I wish to thank you for your time in responding to my query.

You are welcome, I have seen the thermostat start working again once removed so that can fool you sometimes. Here is a guide to check for a blown head gasket to confirm the failure:
