Says low coolant, but it's full and can smell antifreeze and see smoke from front of engine. But temperature gauge doesn't get real high and don't see steam or hear bubbling like usual when a car overheats.

I am not sure this is one issue. It doesn't sound like the vehicle is actually overheating but you may have two issues. First the low coolant level may just be the coolant level sensor. A lot of times these fail and turn the light on regardless of coolant level.

The smoke on the front of the engine may just be a small coolant leak. Have you inspected the engine while it is smoking to see if you can see where it is coming from?
