Changed my reservoir and three days later gauge not moving. Sensor said heater shut off due to engine overheating, but fan comes on. No smoke under hood.

After the vehicle sits overnight, check the coolant level. It is critical that the cooling system is bled (after repairs) to be sure to remove all of the air that is trapped in the system during the refill process.

This guide can help us fix it

One way to "bleed" the air from the system is to disconnect the small hose(s) that connects to the top of the coolant reservoir during the filling process be sure to raise the disconnected end of the hose above the level of the top of the reservoir. Air will move to the highest point in the system (the raised small hose)during the refill, thus escaping and eliminating air pockets which can cause an engine to overheat.

My car is trying to overheat. I changed the thermostat and replaced the fluid. There is also a loud sound coming from the left side of the engine. I do not know where to go from here.

Good afternoon.

Trying to overheat? Please explain.

Does it run hot?

Did you check coolant level? Make sure the level in the radiator is correct.

What type of noise do you hear in the engine? Is it a knock?

My car has been overheating I replaced the elbow tubes, which seemed to help the issue but did not solve it. I also changed the thermostat and I noticed the hose going to the thermostat was dry along with the housing. I'm not an expert so I'm not sure if that is normal after the vehicle has sat for a couple of hours. Could it be an issue with the water pump or radiator?

Top off cooling system and have it pressure tested first, a tester can usually be borrowed from an auto parts store or rented for a small fee

It could be the cooling fans are not working, here is a good guide to help you do some testing and checking.

Please let us know what happens.
