I was suddenly speeding down the road and I saw my thermostat rise and I let the accelerator let go and the thermostat returned back to normal. I inspected the coolant tank and saw some red liquid on the side of it.

Hello,

Red liquid sounds to me like either brake fluid or power steering fluid. You might want to inspect your power steering pump for leaks and also your serpentine belt for slipping or fluid on it. This would account for your vehicle's temperature rising, as a slipping belt would cause the water pump not to work as it should, slowing the circulation of coolant. I have included a few links below for you to go to:

Please go through these guides and get back to us with what you are able to find out.

Thanks,
Alex

The liquid on the coolant tank was more of a crusty pink of the leakage.

Hello again,

Okay, this would indicate either a lot of dust or dirt on the expansion tank, or that the fluid has been there for a while. Can you see where it is leaking from?

Thanks,
Alex

It sounds like you have a radiator transmission fluid cooler that has gone bad. Please stop driving the car or you will ruin the transmission until the problem has been solved. Just to be sure can you please shoot a quick video with your phone so we can see what's going on? That would be great. You can upload it here with your response.
