Overfilled oil

my oil light came on in my vehicle, i filled it with 2 quarts of oil because it burns pretty fast, but now i have put too much in. is this bad?

Hello, yes, it's not a good idea to overfill the oil capacity. it shouldn't be over the fill line on the dip stick. When the oil level is too high it comes into contact with the spinning Crankshaft and this causes the oil to become aerated and ends up with a lot of bubbles in it, this causes the oil pressure to become low because of the air in the oil. This, in turn, causes low oil pressure at the bearings up top that the camshaft spins inside of. You are better off just changing the oil or emptying some of the oil out and let the vehicle sit so the oil can settle.
