We were on a trip and stopped to get gas, the pump we used did not turn off when we stopped pumping gas and then a maintenance required light came on almost immediately. The car is running fine and when we hooked up the obd2 scanner it didn't show any codes, but the light is still on. What should we do?

I would try clearing it and seeing if the light comes back

Hi,

There is a chance that fuel made its way into the charcoal canister (EVAP system). If the car is presently running properly, continue driving it. Also, for the next rounds of fueling, try to keep it between 3/4 and 7/8 of a tank. Don't top it off.

Next, if the check engine light turned on, there should be a code stored. What type of scan tool was used to retrieve codes? That doesn't make sense to me. Like jacobpaulsen mentioned above, I would tell you to reset the code and see if the light stays off. But if there is no code to reset, that doesn't make sense.

Let me know.

We used an obd2 scanner and it showed no codes. This morning when we got up I reset the maintenance required light and everything is still running well. Now we're just going to wait and see if it comes back on or not, hopefully it'll be fine. Thank you for your help.
