overheating, no heat in cabin

Put in new thermostat today, now it overheats and no heat in the cabin. Two days ago a radiator hose went, replaced it topped up with new antifreeze. let it burp and topped up as it did took for run now it is hotter now then old thermostat.

It sounds like you have one of two things happening, either the heater core is air locked and not allowing hot coolant to enter the core or you have installed the thermostat backwards?
