I changed the thermostat, and my water pump, and drained and burped the system for air pockets and my truck is still overheating. At first I thought it was a busted head gasket but I don't have any water in the oil pan, nor oil in the coolant tank plus my truck still runs smooth, not like it would with a busted head gasket. I did notice this in the pictures, should there be that that gunk in that tube, I'm not sure what that part of the engine is called.

If the engine is still overheating, then we need to check for a head gasket issue even if you are not seeing any signs of it.

There are a number of things that can cause it, but we must rule this out or we will not figure this out.

Here is a guide that will help with this:

I would get the engine nice and hot and then check the cooling system with the chemical tester to see if there are hydrocarbons in the cooling system.

If there are not, then we can also do a compression test and cylinder leakage test to see if you have compression coming out of the cooling system.

Once we rule this out then we can figure out the next steps but until we rule this out, we will not know for sure.
