Overheating

Hey. I put some head gasket sealant in my car and it sealed the leak. But my car has a little noise and runs hot. I wanted to know if I get a oil change will that stop it from overheating?

An oil change will not stop the engine from overheating. I am not sure what you used or how it was installed, but in addition to stopping the head gasket leak, it may have plugged up something in the engine, radiator, thermostat, water pump. You may want to consider flushing the cooling system and replacing the thermostat.

Termostat Replacement (RPOs L26/L32)

Tools Required

J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield.
2. Partially drain the cooling system.
3. Use the J 38185 in order to reposition the hose clamp from the water outlet housing.
4. Remove the radiator inlet hose from the water outlet housing.
5. Reposition the wiring harness from the water outlet housing stud.
6. Remove the water outlet housing bolt and the stud.
7. Remove the water outlet housing and the gasket.
8. Remove the thermostat.
9. Clean and Inspect the water outlet housing gasket mating surfaces.

Installation Procedure
1. Install the thermostat.
2. Install the gasket and the water outlet housing.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the water outlet housing bolt and the stud to the water outlet housing.

Tighten the bolt and the stud to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).

4. Install the wiring harness to the water outlet housing stud.
5. Install the radiator inlet hose to the water outlet housing.
6. Use the J 38185 in order to reposition and install the hose clamp to the water outlet housing.
7. Fill the cooling system.
8. Install the fuel injector sight shield.
