I'm at a loss. My truck is a 1500. Dash said engine hot shutting down. Okay, so we changed thermostat. Didn't fix. Changed coolant temperature sensor, flushed radiator thought air pocket but not it either. Upper radiator hose hot and lower one warm. So now trucks overheating and there is no heat in cab. Please help.
also the truck has shut itself off
after my son thought we figured it out. Drove it for an 1hr. No sulfer smell no milky substance and he pressure tested that all was ok
today we noticed coolant level which right now is water. Was low added more ran truck air bubbles came out. Got rpms up to 2 and suddenly the water turned orange like the original coolant.

Good afternoon,

The no heat could be either air in the system or a failed head gasket.

I would make sure there is no air in the system. If there is not, then the next step would be to measure the temp of the radiator at the upper hose and lower hose.

You can use a temperature gun. This will tell if the radiator is clogged causing the issue.

Beyond that, the head gaskets need to be tested. A leak down test needs to be done to test. That is where you inject air into each cylinder one at a time and watch for any coolant movement in the radiator.
