order of head gasket Left or Right

This is gonna seem like a very dumb question. I doing a head gasket replacement and I don't know for sure which cylinder is left and which one is right as instructions say one gasket is L and the other R. The instructions also say sitting in vehicle right side then sitting in vehicle L side but the engine is transverse (side ways). Lastly I've assumed the right is closest to driver L is farthest but I don't want to be wrong.

If you stand behind the engine the heads are as such Left is the left and right is right so the one closest to the front of the car is the left one.
