1998 Opel Vectra check gearbox message in the information b

Transmission problem
1998 Opel Vectra 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 43000 kms

the information box says check gearbox, shifting suddenly becomes rough and it seems not to be shifting as it usually does, if you turn off the engine and start it again the message disappears and driveability returns to normal, it usually happens when the engine is cold or first time used for the day, thank you very much for any info

Hi there,

There will be a fault code stored in the ECU, you will need a scan to read this code, this will be an indication as to where the fault is, start with a scan and post your findings here if you need more assistance,
