I have an opel vectra and teh problem is when I am driving in 5th gear for example and try to accelerate to climb a hill, a warning light comes on and the car will not go faster than 80 kph. I have to stop the car, switch off the engine then restart the car. Then the problem has gone. The garage says that nothing is showing p onthe computer.

This is an intermiitent fault which is not storing a fault code in the ECU. You will need to have a road test carried out while plugged into a diagnostic scanner to try and recreate the fault and get the fault code showing during the fault. Sounds like you may have bad fuel pressure at WOT (wide open throttle) but it could be numerous other reasons !
